And life keeps rolling

The old expression, “no need to reinvent the wheel” never made sense to me. It’s taken me all my thirty years to learn one of the oldest expressions in the book is basically preaching one very big life lesson: life is hard enough, don’t create more work for yourself than needed.

Unfortunately, my wonderful hubby and I have never been so good at this. We tend to go about things the hard way. Straight lines are too easy for us. We make several wrong turns and pit stops between points A and B. In our defense, life has thrown us in the ditch more times than most others our age, but I’m not one for excuses.

To be honest, we’ve had a hard year and once again we find ourselves at a crossroads. The fork in the road and commitment and choices that must go with each path has been our place of biggest mistake in the past. But not this time. We’ve learned this fear, anxiety and un-comfort with the coming changes is our call to prayer. This time, we’ve answered the call. Our decision process has been much longer and more prudent. Big changes are coming, but we know they are the right ones.  We’ve prayed diligently and have been rewarded by affirmations at every turn. Affirmation that we’ve discerned correctly has been our biggest blessing.

Loose strings will be tied this week and hopefully, the I’s will be dotted, T’s will be crossed, and the Rutchiks will roll onto the next phase in life.

So excuse the dust, rubber cones and confusion, the Rutchiks are under construction these days.

For today, I share with you the first step in our new life – the new “Rutchik family van.” I’m so excited to have a van again and Joseph is equally pleased. One of his favorite daddy moments is driving his sleeping family of ladies late at night in the dark. We’ve spent a lot of time together in the van these past 2 weeks as we prepare for our next step in life. It’s been fruitful time for our family’s present and future.

3 carseats in the back of a car was not working out. We couldn't get our bags from the market to fit in the trunk and nobody was happy.
Our "new to us" van.

The new van has space for our new and improved family. Who wouldn't want to ride with this little gal?
First trip through the car wash.
Anna likes the new van, but not the carwash!

Awww...continued prayers for the continued fulfillment of your discernment. Remember to enjoy the journey too. Some of the great lessons we learn about each other we learn making wrong turns. Lots of wrong turns we understand, but we too are learning. Sometimes it takes a two-by-four, but hey, we get it eventually! :)

Love the new van! You look so relieved and so much less house-bound! And isn't it nice to be debt-free????

Oh Holly...Collin could sympathize with Anna about the carwash...definitely not his favorite place to be! I continue to pray for your family, and can't wait to hear what God has planned next for your family! Blessings!

Awwww...such sweet pics of your beautiful family!! Hugs to Anna, carwashes ARE scary! I remember getting our first van, my 5 year old wanted to start sleeping in it instead of his bed!! Isn't nice to ride up high??

I used to be terrified of carwashes, so when my mom went through them and my friend and I were in the backseat (my mom babysat for my friend on a daily basis), us girls would release all of our nervous energy by howling and giggling and screaming with excitement the whole time. It was as good as being on a roller coaster for us. I only wonder how my mom ever survived without getting deaf ears. I guess she found it was a cheap sort of entertainment.

Holly, thanks for posting this! I especially like the part about anxiety and confusion over change being a call to prayer, and about how diligent discernment leads to peace. I really needed that reminder! Sending continued prayers for you guys as you navigate this next phase in your life as a family!! Also loved the "under construction" analogy - reminds me kinda of a sign my mom embroidered for my room that I loved, it said "please be patient, God isn't finished with me yet" :) He's always working on all of us!

Oh and one more thing: love the pic of Anna in the carwash! We all drove through a carwash yesterday and Sammy was literally shaking/trembling, with a look of horror on his face, but afterward kept repeating, FUN! :)

A great update! Sounds like there is a lot of excitement and continued blessings on the Rutchiks, and I'm so glad to hear it! Now that you have a van, come on over anytime! (I'd visit you, too, happily! My kiddos and I would make the place feel like a castle after we left, like the tale of the farmer in the small house!)

Oh, I have a lot of carwash stories. Can't believe I never got a photo, though. That's classic. And you're right about the baby. Who could resist that cutie pie? You look good with three kiddos underfoot, Holly. You wear it well! And I LOVE my van; can totally relate there. I look forward to hearing what's next. You've face everything with faith as your armor. I know you're going to move through this okay, too. XXOO, Roxane

I think of you often even thought I've been absent from the blog world lately. Lots of prayers for your transition! What a blessing to have a van back in your life!
